The hibiscus is a shrub of the malvaceae family, also called "guinea sorrel". The hibiscus flower is also often used dried to prepare infusions, jellies, compotes or sweet and savory dishes. Its sweet and floral flavor as well as its color make it an original and delicious ingredient.

The virtues of the hibiscus flower have been known since antiquity and are still traditionally used by Egyptians for its medicinal properties.
